Half a Dozen Things You Should Always Remember About Your Pastor (2)
So this is how we finish what we started yesterday. Welcome. Sit back, relax and enjoy the concluding half of the half-dozen things you should always remember about your spiritual leader.
4. Always remember that your pastor or priest should only point you towards Christ and the kingdom of God on earth in its diversity, with a view to enabling the empowerment and prosperity of your spirit, soul and body. So when your pastor or priest starts pointing you to other eventful places like dates, hotel suites, bedrooms and body parts, I suggest you borrow legs from Usain Bolt and...bolt!
I admit such an experience can be really disheartening- moreso for some than for others- but please you need not lose your faith over it.
Stuff happens-even in church. From pulpit to pew. It is what it is.
Please note, however, that the errancy of your pastor DOES NOT make them a 'fake' man/woman of God. They just, at this moment, need help from you and from God. You may, however, need to render your help of prayers from afar though since you will most likely not be able to listen to, or stand the sight of them acting as 'pastor' around you.
5. Always remember that your pastor needs your support. He or she may look and talk like they've got it all-put-together and under control but remember appearance and reality remains a philosophical problem till date. Things aren't always what they seem- and people too. Or rather, pastors too.
You'll be shocked to know the matrimonial, emotional, financial and even identity challenges your spiritual leader is going through. Of course you have yours too. But have you ever imagined what would happen if your pastor or priest got too distracted by mundane challenges to pray for his 'flock'? You've probably read the biblical account of Hannah. You know she prayed so internally and intensely that she was considered drunk, right? You also know she made a vow. But do you remember that Eli, her priest, also made pronouncements over her and assured her of an answer to her prayer?
And the answer, Samuel, came. And then some.
Do what you can regularly-anonymously or otherwise- to support your spiritual leaders in prayer, sincere feedbacks and gifts.
6. Finally, do please always remember to always remember the preceding five things about your spiritual head, and then you can add this: Strive to know for yourself. Christian folks who are the most affected and disappointed by the inadequacies and inconsistencies of human beings-whether pastors or not- are often folks who are largely ignorant of the divine, the biblical and the human condition in general. Let's get knowledge for ourselves, people, and in the getting of it possess wisdom.
There it is, dear folks. Hope you enjoyed reading?
I plan to do 'half a dozen things'...about 'your decent husband' soon. Lol. Expect it. Bye. (a happy chilling holiday to our Nigerian audience).
